Welcome

Uncommon Recovery Blog

Th Uncommon Recovery Blog promotes Jesus as the consummate healer and the Holy Spirit as the ultimate recovery counselor. Its purpose is to discuss and evaluate recovery counseling/helping critical issues and methodologies in a Spirit-led manner that seeks to enlighten and empower. Our purpose is to help equip those ministering to others struggling with compulsive behavioral patterns including substance abuse. Uncommon Recovery promotes a comprehensive truth-based helping approach encompassing spirit, soul, and body. Our desire is to help those who help the hurting become a Spirit-led extension of the life of the One who is uncommon recovery – Jesus. His own words announce His life-giving, healing, chain-breaking purpose, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are downtrodden (Luke 4:18).”

The Uncommon Recovery Blog exists to promote the relevancy of the completed work of Christ as foundational for human freedom.

The Uncommon Recovery Blog upholds four foundational Biblical truths applicable to children of God through Christ’s work alone.

  1. Absolute security of believers in Christ.
  2. Unconditional Grace that gives assurance.
  3. Blood bought, cross focused, relational intimacy with God through Jesus Christ.
  4. .A radically substantive identity change by grace through faith in Christ.

Recovery topics, recovery models, and relevant issues will be discussed and evaluated accordingly.  The Biblical helping model adhered to by Uncommon Recovery is sometimes referred to as Exchanged Life Counseling. In Exchanged Life Counseling the ultimate goal is to guide individuals towards dependence upon the indwelling Christ and the power of His life.
